Build-and-Oversee Programme Governance

Vendor-neutral oversight of a major system replacement delivered by others — for the board that needs someone in the room accountable to them alone.

Not every major system programme fits neatly under ERP, CRM, cloud, or PIM specifically — a bespoke platform build, a core system replacement in a niche vertical, an integration programme spanning several systems at once. What every one of these programmes shares is the same structural risk: a systems integrator or delivery partner with its own commercial incentives, and a board that needs independent oversight it can actually rely on, regardless of what the programme is called.

That is what this engagement is.

Two stages. A fixed-fee governance review to establish the baseline, followed by ongoing oversight quoted on the actual scope and duration of your programme.

No implementation work. No commissions. No relationship with any delivery partner that could compromise independence.

Why clients commission independent oversight

  • A significant system replacement or build is underway or about to start, and it doesn’t fit neatly under a named specialism — a bespoke platform, a niche vertical system, a multi-system integration programme.
  • The delivery partner’s own status reporting is the board’s only current source of truth on progress, and the board wants an independent check on it.
  • The programme spans multiple vendors or systems integrators, and no single party has genuine incentive to flag problems that sit at the boundary between their work and someone else’s.
  • A previous major programme at this business went badly, and the board wants this one governed with independent oversight from day one.

Who this is for

Boards and executive sponsors of a major system replacement or technology build being delivered by an external partner, wanting genuinely independent, vendor-neutral oversight.

Organisations running a programme that doesn’t fit a named specialism like ERP, CRM, cloud, or PIM, but carries comparable delivery risk.

Who this is not for

Organisations wanting the system itself built. We oversee; the delivery partner builds.

Programmes that fit one of our named specialisms more precisely — see ERP Migration Oversight, CRM Migration & Consolidation Strategy, Cloud Migration Strategy & Cost/Risk Governance, or PIM Strategy & Implementation Oversight if your programme matches one of those directly.

Stage one: the Governance Review

€15,000. Three to four weeks. An independent baseline of the programme as it currently stands — delivery plan realism, governance structure, budget and timeline assumptions, and the specific risks a programme of this shape typically carries. Delivered as a written report and board presentation.

Stage two: ongoing oversight

Where the Governance Review surfaces a genuine need for continued independent oversight through delivery — a standing seat at steering committee meetings, periodic milestone reviews, or closer to continuous engagement — this is scoped and quoted separately, based on the programme’s actual duration and complexity.

What this is not

A substitute for the delivery partner’s own project management. We provide independent oversight and escalation; the delivery partner still owns delivery.

A guarantee of on-time or on-budget delivery. What independent oversight can do is surface problems early enough for the board to act on them.
